Coach's Corner

Practice Tip To Reduce Lines

        If you have to run one of the dreaded line exercises, like a shooting drill, have the player do something on the way back after he gathers his shot. For instance, have him play a long ball back to the group, then do side hops over a line; or shuffle between some cones; or dribble the ball back through a shalom course.
        Another thought would be to have the shooter retrieve his shot, pass out to a previous shooter who has sprinted out wide, who receives and dribbles or passes back to the group. The first passer then runs out wide (a C run of course) for the next player/shooter to pass to. If several players are waiting to shoot, then have them do one touch passing (or heading), until it's their turn to shoot.
        Keep their feet busy and you'll be a happy coach.

Kentucky Youth Soccer State Tournament
Schedules online

The 2008 Commonwealth Cup will be hosted by the Madison United Soccer
Association in Richmond, KY the weekends of November 1-2 and November 8-9
(if necessary). The 2nd weekend will only be used if needed to complete an
age group. These two fun-filled weekends offer teams the opportunity to play
against some of the best recreational teams from all areas of Kentucky. This
tournament is open to any properly registered and formed Kentucky Youth
Soccer recreational team, mixed or girls, aged U10-U16. The deadline for
entries for the Commonwealth Cup is October 3, 2008 at 5pm EDT.

Please acknowledge the "NO PARKING" signs on the right side of

Smith Lane. All cars parked on that side of drive will be towed at owner's expense.

This is for the safety of the players and all spectators visiting the complex.

No pets are allowed at Fern Creek Optimist sponsored youth events including parking lots.

Service animals are welcome.
