Fern Creek Optimist Cheer (2024-2025)

Hey Creekers.
We are planning to offer cheer again for the 2024-2025 basketball season. To make this happen we will need a parent or two to step up and agree to coordinate / coach this program. Please register ASAP so that we can get this seasons cheer program off the ground. Assuming all goes well and we reach enough interest to make this go, we will end registration on 11/30/2024 (same as basketball) and we plan to start practicing by the week of 12/09/2024. Our plan would be to practice once per week throughout the season and games will run for 8-9 weeks. FCO Sports Basketball Co-Ed League (2024-2025)

Basketball season is upon us and now is the time to register! Registration opens on 10/02/2024 and closes on 11/30/2024! Last year we had 325 players and anticipate even more this year. The league is available for players 3-18 years old. The eligibility age is determined based on the player’s age as of 12/31/2024.

Note: Players who play for school teams in 8th grade or below can participate in this league. So no reason not to register for both! 

Currently we are planning an 8 game season for the 3/4 and the 5/6 year old's played on Saturdays starting on 01/04/2025 and going through 02/22/2025. The 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14 and the 15-18 age groups will play an 8 game schedule starting on Saturday 01/04/2025 and the league will run through our tournament ending on or before 03/08/2025.

Again in 2024-2025 all divisional age groups will be Co-Ed.

Age groups are 3/4, 5/6, 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14 & 15-18 year old's. Last year due to our final registration numbers we ended up playing 3/4, 5/6, 7/8, 9/10 11-14 Middle School and 15-18 High School. The make-up of age groups could change depending upon the number of players registered in each age group.

All players who sign up will be placed on a team.

All registrations will be taken online this season through the FCO website at www.ferncreekoptimist.org starting on October 02rd, 2024.

Deadline for registration is Saturday, November 30th.

Evaluations / Tryouts / Drafts will be held on Saturday, December 07th, 2024 for all players 7-18 years old. Tryouts are scheduled at Evangel World Prayer Centers - High School Gymnasium at 6900 Billtown Road Louisville, KY 40299. Times TBA

3-6 year old's do not tryout and will be placed on a team. They will practice before each of their scheduled games.

Drafts will be held on Saturday, December 7th, 2024 immediately following the age groups tryouts. All players will be contacted by their coach and will be alerted to their team placement n.l.t.. Sunday, December 8th, 2024.

Practices will start the week of December 9th, 2024. All Practices for 7-18 year old's will be held at the Evangel Gymnasium. Each team will have a one-hour practice on a weekday evening (most likely on Tuesday, Wednesdays and Fridays). Once your practice is set they will remain the same throughout the season.

Games will start in January and run through early March, 2025.

FEES: Registration fee for 7-18 year old's is $140 per player; and fee for 3/4 & 5/6 year old's is $100 per player.
NOTE: If more than 2 siblings in a family participate (defined as blood relatives living in the same household), the family will receive a $25.00 discount cost for the 3rd, 4th, 5th player, etc… .).

COACHES / ASSISTANT COACHES: If you are interested in volunteering to be a coach or assistant, please mark the appropriate section on the registration form or send a note to George Poole listed below.

SPONSORS: We need one (1) company sponsorship for the back of the shirts for each team. The cost to sponsor a team is $150.
Note: The sponsorship check must come complete with all the information requested to be included on the shirt. Please identify which player and age group the sponsorship is for. We will need camera ready artwork for any company logo's, etc... to be included. Deadline for shirt sponsors is December 7th, 2024 and should be mailed to PO Box #91124, Louisville, KY 40291. Information can also be emailed to [email protected].
